I have some photos in this years Jewel Magazine. The Jewel is a publication put out by the Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce. These magazines are send around the world to people who are interested in visiting Midcoast Maine. If you would like a copy contact the chamber.
I didn’t take the cover photo but I wanted you to see what the magazine looked like. This boat is near the Famous Lincolnville Beach. Its a great place to stop and dip your toes in the cold Atlantic water. You can also visit the row of stores across from the beach, eat lobster or catch the ferry to Isleboro. One of my favorite hikes is just a couple miles away. Make sure to hike up Bald Rock Mountain Trail if the hike doesn’t leave you breathless, the view will. I try to take my camera with me when I am just out and about. The top photo was taken during the build-a-boat race during the Camden Windjammer Festival. Each contestant is given a certain amount of supplies and they have to build a boat and race it around the harbor. Not all the boat stay float or make it to the finish. The beach photo was taken at Lincolnville Beach, the third are the Lime Kilns in Rockport, Maine. These two photos are taken during weddings in I photographed in the area. The top photo was taken on Mt. Battie with Camden Harbor in the background and the bottom photo was taken at the Samoset Resort. Over 75% of the brides I photograph are coming from out of state to get married here in Maine. Bayview Lobster sits on the water’s edge. The busy harbor is full of Yachts from around the world, schooners giving tours and of course sea gulls looking for a hand out. The top photo is a pick up ice hockey game on the pond behind the Maine Sport Outfitter store. Just some kids getting out and having fun. The bottom photo was taken during the buid-a-boat race. I couldn’t resist the little pirate. These, of course, are just my photos. There are so many wonderful photos in the book showcasing our area. Well, there is hope. Spring will be coming. Today we had our first feel of spring in the air. The ice in the lakes and rivers is starting to break up and I saw my lilies poking up through still frozen ground. It is interesting how a little warm weather and sunshine can change your attitude and give you a little bounce in your step. (Well, if you live in Maine, you’d understand) Here are two photos of our beach and lake access on Damariscotta Lake. Many houses in the area are seasonal, but the house we are building will be year round. Damariscotta Lake is a large lake in Central Maine. “Summer” people come to play on the lake in the summer, doubling the population of many small towns in the area including Jefferson, Maine. In the winter the ice on the lake can be up to 3 feet thick and the lake is dotted with fishing shanties, snowmobiles and ice boats. In the summer there is plenty of activities like fishing, swimming, boating and watching the loons and other wildlife. The first photo was taken on March 3, 2010 the second was August 2009. You choose. February and March are busy months for us. Fenn Fotographics photographs the Midcoast Classic Hockey Tournaments at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport, Maine. Every weekend, for 5 weekends, we capture all the action on the ice. Parents can view the photos right after the game, choose their favorites and walk out the door with prints. Another big hit is our photo collages. Parents can choose a number of photos to make up their personal collage. Then there are the little Atoms… just learning, so cute! To see some of our older posts go to http://www.fennfoto.blogspot.com/ Blogs about Maine weddings, Senior Portraits, the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival and the Wentworth Charities Golf Tournament at the Samoset Resort. Another one of my favorites is the lobster crate race and build-a-boat race in Camden. Summers are full of fun here in Midcoast Maine. Just 20 minutes away is the Camden Snow Bowl. For a little mountain there is a lot of activity. Of course there you can ski and the Snow Bowl but did you know you can also try out the Tobbogan Chute, go Tubing and Ice Skate on the pond. If you want a great winter activity bring the family to Camden Feb 5-7 for the National Toboggan Championships. Its a lot of crazy fun. If you are planning a wedding in Maine you can have your wedding at the Snow Bowl and your guests can ride the chairlift to the top. http://www.camdensnowbowl.com/20th-annual-toboggan-championships I am involved with a wonderful group of wedding professionals here in Mid Coast Maine. The name of the group is “Getting Married In Maine.” We have a website as well as a publication that is a great resource for planning a wedding. Check out our website. If you would like a booklet mailed to you email me at Kim@GettingMarriedInMaine.com The Children’s Chapel in Rockport Maine is a very popular place to get married. I photograph weddings there on a frequent basis and am always able to come up with something different. Its a small outdoor chapel with a roof and open sides. Its out of the way, quiet and surrounded by beautiful flower gardens. It even has a view. As you are getting married sailboats glide across the bay in the distance, a squirrel runs up a tree and the post and beam chapel becomes that place you come back to every year. Here are a few photos of weddings at the chapel.
Also go to my link for more photos around for your Midcoast Maine Wedding.http://www.fennfoto.com/Wedding%20Locations/Childrens%20Chapel%20Rockport%20Maine%20Weddings.html Linda and Kurt had a small wedding at the First Parish Church in York, Maine. Linda’s son Dillan looked so proud walking his mom down the isle. Linda said she makes a trip to Maine every August, so it was a simple decision to have her wedding in York. We weren’t able to photograph outside due to stormy weather, but we got some beautiful photos inside the church. The top of the cake were hand made sugar flowers. They looked so real, it was hard to believe they were handmade. To top it off the dogs in front of the cake were likenesses of the bride and groom’s dogs —- and they are made out of chocolate! Beth and Ian were married in Waldoboro and had their reception in Rockland at the Elks Lodge. My friend Darcy, who owns Country Coach Charters provided the limos for the night. Everyone had a great time at the wedding. We photographed Beth’s sister’s wedding a couple years ago, it was nice to see everyone again. |
