Well, there is hope. Spring will be coming. Today we had our first feel of spring in the air. The ice in the lakes and rivers is starting to break up and I saw my lilies poking up through still frozen ground. It is interesting how a little warm weather and sunshine can change your attitude and give you a little bounce in your step. (Well, if you live in Maine, you’d understand)
Here are two photos of our beach and lake access on Damariscotta Lake. Many houses in the area are seasonal, but the house we are building will be year round. Damariscotta Lake is a large lake in Central Maine. “Summer” people come to play on the lake in the summer, doubling the population of many small towns in the area including Jefferson, Maine. In the winter the ice on the lake can be up to 3 feet thick and the lake is dotted with fishing shanties, snowmobiles and ice boats. In the summer there is plenty of activities like fishing, swimming, boating and watching the loons and other wildlife. The first photo was taken on March 3, 2010 the second was August 2009. You choose.
